MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA — Movement Mortgage, the nation's sixth-largest retail mortgage lender, is excited to announce the addition of Branch Manager George Gershon to its team serving metropolitan Minneapolis–Saint Paul and the surrounding area.

Gershon (NMLS #400479) brings to Movement over 20 years of home financing experience, having most recently worked in a similar capacity at Homeowners Financial Group. Prior to his three years at Homeowners, Gershon spent over a decade at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Earlier in his career, he was a loan officer at Global Mortgage and CSK Mortgage.

“I got into the mortgage business in a strange way,” said Gershon. “I have a degree in Hospitality Administration and a minor in business and was happy in the restaurant and hotel management industry. However, I decided to go into the business after my mother purchased her first home at 50 years old and had a terrible experience.”

Gershon explained that he had trusted a referral from a friend to assist his mother in her home purchase. “This was a mistake,” Gershon pointed out. “She was placed on a two-year adjustable-rate mortgage with a three-year pre-pay and was charged 2.500 points. That's when I started researching the mortgage world and made a move to work in the industry within a few months.”

“My mother's poor experience is why I lead my clients with education,” Gershon explained, describing how he works with a lot of local nonprofit organizations to teach homeownership basics, credit basics and financial literacy. “I also sit on the Board of NAREB, the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, am part of the Minnesota Area Realtors® Diversity Committee and the HOA Home Ownership Alliance,” he said.

“I want to make a difference with homeownership in the Twin Cities,” Gershon continued. “My team's goal is to educate all clients and make sure they have as much of an understanding as possible of what homeownership entails. This is true whether they are a first-time homebuyer, purchasing a second home or are a seasoned investor.”

Gershon cites the corporate culture, beliefs and leadership among the many reasons he made the move to Movement. “They lead by example,” he says. “Everyone deserves a chance to achieve homeownership and give back when possible.” And he's ready to hit the ground running as he brings a team of three who work seamlessly together. His team includes loan officers Tammy Wagner (NMLS #402048), Ross Damhof (NMLS #778401) and Gary McIntyre (NMLS #452459).

“I love showing people how Movement is more than just a mortgage company,” said Regional Sales Director Ricky Cheath (NMLS #293027). “The addition of George's team, and the level of excellence they provide, makes me confident they will positively impact their clients' lives and have a major impact on our local community through education, nonprofit initiatives and dedication.”

A graduate of Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois, Gershon lives in Minneapolis with his fiancée Dawn. The couple loves the region for the parks, local farmer markets and theatre. They enjoy travel, volunteering and attending local sporting events. “And we love Minnehaha Falls,” adds Gershon, “as it is perfect for all seasons.”
